An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a given site. Every file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have just one webpage with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the 6 files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log normally contains the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, worldwide web browser and IP address. Sometimes you could also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the overall performance of a website, in addition to the web statistics that your web hosting server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting
If you choose one of our shared web hosting solutions, you will get detailed access logs for all of your websites. As soon as you sign in to your Hepsia CP, you can go to the Access/Error Logs section in which you will see a full list of the domains and subdomains that you have added or created inside the web hosting account. You'll simply have to click on the On button, which is found on the right-hand side of every hostname and our cloud platform shall start generating logs right away. To disable this function, you'll have to follow the same exact steps and click on the Off button. The domains and subdomains can be managed independently and whenever you want. You will find a download link within the Logs section of the Control Panel for any log produced by our system, so you can save the file to your computer and view it or use it through some log processing software.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it will not take more than several clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature may be enabled via the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this can be done individually for every single domain or subdomain that you have in your account. As soon as you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. A single click shall activate the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great ease. A Download link within the same section will enable you to save the compiled content as a text file, which you may then use on your computer system. Even when the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
